Trader Joe's Hours & Locations Near Me

Trader Joe's Brand History & Description

Launched in 1958 in California by Joe Coulombe under the name of Pronto Market, Trader Joe’s has turned into a large grocery store chain with just under 500 locations all over the United States to date.

The market first specialized in wine, overseas food, freshly cut meat and cheese and used Hawaiian stylistics. In 1979 the company was acquired by German entrepreneur Theodor Albrecht and went on to expand outside California and become one of the leading grocery store chains in the United States.

Today they mainly sell organic, vegetarian, environmentally friendly food as well as exclusive imported products. Their stores are often located in unusual places like former theatres or banks.
